Training on “Formative Research on FCHVs Communication and engagement with communities and to explore the possibilities of using Mobile Phone as a job aid”

Training on “Formative Research on FCHVs Communication and engagement with communities and to explore the possibilities of using Mobile Phone as a job aid”

A rigorous training of five days from 8 January, 2019 to 12 January, 2019 was organized by Anweshan in Aamako Bhanchha located in Sanepa Heights. A formative study had been designed as a part of “mhealth for Female Community Health Volunteers” project that envisioned to bring mobile phone based solutions to help FCHVs to communicate and engage with communities. 15 individuals were selected on the basis of their merit and past experiences for the qualitative study. They were divided into three groups with five individuals in each group so that they could go to three different districts: Rautahat, Darchula and Tearathum. They would be meeting community people, FCHVs, CBOs and elected representative during their field and conducting events like FGDs, IDIs and Observations to retrieve quantitative data. Hence the 15 enumerators were given the training to enhance their knowledge and efficiency.

The training made the researchers familiar with all the components of qualitative study like FGDs, IDIs and observation. They had tool review and mock sessions that helped them to enhance their confidence on various tools. The sessions from various resource persons also helped them understand about FCHVs and their broader prospects.  Anju Bhatt, Manish Gautam, Dr. Madhav Lamsal and Dr. Binayak Krishna Thapa were the facilitators of the training.
