Effectiveness of health components of predeparture orientation training for aspiring Nepali migrants in collaboration with Bournemouth University

This study was conducted by Anweshan in partnership with Bournemouth University, with the aim of assessing the effectiveness of health-related components integrated within predeparture orientation training for aspiring Nepali migrants. The research encompassed a comprehensive investigative approach, employing Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and In-Depth Interviews (IDI) as methods of inquiry with individuals who had intentions of migrating.

The primary objective of predeparture orientation was to equip potential migrants with essential knowledge and skills, enabling them to make well-informed decisions, mitigate potential health hazards, and facilitate their successful adjustment to the new socio-cultural and environmental conditions of the destination country. By offering customized guidance and pertinent information, the study was orchestrated to critically evaluate the efficacy of this approach in enhancing the overall health and well-being of migrants. Furthermore, the research aimed to ascertain the extent to which predeparture orientation contributed to a smoother and more seamless transition in the health aspect.

Duration of the study: Jan 2020 - Feb 2023
